Beyond the Stereotype is all about having conversations and engaging in open honest discussions about Islam and how it is perceived by teens. I feel that recent world and local events have pushed Islam into a very negative spotlight.

If you know a Muslim you are more likely to have positive views about Islam! According to a Pew Research Center study, familiarity with Muslims is linked to positive views of Muslims and Islam. So get out there and meet new people. Connect with Muslims have a conversation.

Stand up for those who are oppressed. Islamophobia happens often in public or in schools, so confronting aggressors is the most impactful way to help those experiencing hate and prejudice. Doing this not only prevents negative behavior towards muslims, but shows them that they are being cared for and that someone is on their side.

Be active in your community. Volunteer with organizations such as:
- Council on American-Islamic Relations
- Movement to End Racism and Islamophobia
- America Indivisible
- Interfaith Youth Corps
